Acacia Honey
Acacia honey comes from the nectar of the creamy-white acacia tree blossoms. When in full bloom, acacia trees are loaded with clusters of flowers which perfume the air and summon the bees.
The acacia tree (also known as a Black Locust) is native to the Eastern United States. In the mid-1700's, some of these trees were sent over to England. From there, they spread rapidly over Europe. Today, some parts of Eastern Europe have vast acacia forests where large honey crops are made. Our current supply comes from Pennsylvania.
This honey is darker in color as compared to the European crops, but the flavor is excellent. Acacia honey has a very mild flavor. Delicate fruity-floral notes linger in the background of this medium sweet honey variety. Because it is so fruity and mild, acacia honey is a very popular variety in the United States and Europe.
